writing an argument paper

I liked finding sources and doing research for the paper. I enjoyed learning about a topic I didn't know much about. Sometimes it was really hard to find sources that were credible. I liked seeing the views of both sides of animal testing. I enjoyed finding out how other people feel about the topic too.
I did not like trying to incorperate all my sources and information into the paper. It was tough trying to use to much information but still have the paper make sense. Also, some information pertained to more than one topic included in my paper. Then it was hard to organize the paper so I could use that information for both topics.

What else?

I don't think we need to know anything else about arguments. I feel like we covered them very well. I learned how to write a good argument paper. I learned how to make good arguments too. I do not have any more questions about arguments or forming them. I believe we covered the topic very well.

Audience

For my argument paper on animal rights I would my audience to be college students. I will try to convince Jane Doe who believes that testing products on animals is ok. She is around 20 years old and attends college. She is a geniunely nice person and enjoys being around people. She always has to look good so she owns a lot of beauty products. She owns makeup, perfume, and a lot of nail polish. She is very ignorant about the treatment of animals in testing centers. The only reason she believes animal testing is ok is because she doesn't have a reason to believe that is it wrong.

argument

The last argument I was in was with my friend, Matt. He thought it was just fine that he was addicted to drugs. He did not have a problem with it. He also did not see it as a bad thing even though he was kicked out of the dorms for possesion. I thought Matt being addicted was a really bad thing. I saw it as a problem. Matt did not care that drugs were illegal and believed that they should be legalized. I did care that drugs were illegal and didn't believe they should be legalized. We argued about this issues for a long time. I may have argued using the appeal to pity fallacy. I wanted to Matt to feel pity for himself because he didn't any place to sleep or keep all of his stuff. I think this was the only logical fallacy I used when arguing with Matt.

fallacy

The fallacy that I remember the most is the Fallacy of Division. This fallacy states that a false conclusion is made from true information. I live in the Julia Sears dorms. These dorms cost much more than all the other dorms on campus. People often say that because I live in Juila Sears, I am rich. This would be a fallacy of division. I do live in the more expense dorms, but I am not rich. This is the fallacy I remember most because I believe that a lot of people use this fallacy in speech and in writing. It is a very commonly used fallacy.

Personal Essays

The thing I like most about writing personal essays is knowing everything about the topic. Whatever topic I choose to write about, I know all the answers. I do not have to research the topic or find any sources. I already know everything that happened. I am an expert on the topic, without trying to be. This is my favorite part about writing a personal essay.

When writing a personal essay, my least favorite part is trying to think of a good topic to write about. To me, my life is not anything really exciting. The stories are all old and no longer noteworthy. None of the topics I think of seem interesting enough to write about. In reality, my stories are interesting. Many people have not heard them, and to that person, the story is not boring. Choosing a topic to write a personal essay on is my least favorite part.

Culture

In sixth grade, Seema and I became best friends. I just an average American kid and her parents had moved to the U.S. from India. She was raised in the Indian culture and it was a big part of her life.
She invited our friend, Laura and I to go to an Indian festival with her. We went to her house to get ready. We borrowed beautiful Indian dresses from Seemas family and her mom did our makeup and hair. We borrowed jewelery from them too. The dress was so different from the jeans I was used to wearing.
The festival consisted of dancing, singing and food. Once we got there Laura and I were about the only white kids there. Everyone was was Indian. They all knew how to speak in one of Indias languages and knew the dances that were being performed. I felt like such an outsider. The feeling only got worse once it was time to eat.
I am a very picky eater and hate to try to new things. This was not helpful when all the food looked and smelled disgusting. Seemas mom was very sweet and recommend food to eat. She would say, "This food is not spicy." Or,"Don't eat this. You will not like it." I didn't like any of the food. Everything either had a gross sauce on it or was too spicy.
Even though I did not fit in I still had a lot of fun. I enjoyed experiencing parts of Seemas life. It helped to open up my eyes as to why Seema did the things she did. Even though I stuck out, I throughly enjoyed myself.
